Ganpathy (Ganesha; Ganapati; Vinayaka; Vigneshwara) is remover of obstacles. As the God of beginnings, he is always honored and worshipped at the start of any pooja, homam, rituals or ceremonies. His name ‘Vigneshwara’ is [vigna + eshwara] means the lord who removes all obstructions (Vighna). This is why it is believed by doing Ganpathy Pooja one can either get rid off or minimize affect of obstacles.
